Night Nannies was set up in 1999 in response to a need expressed by parents for help in establishing good sleep habits. Our aim is to provide discreet professional guidance in the first few weeks of a baby’s life, helping babies develop good sleep associations upon which they can build as they get older until they are sleeping through the night.
We can also teach older babies and toddlers to sleep through the night because we understand the disruption that bad sleep habits can cause within a family.
Each regional agency is run by someone who is a mother herself and can therefore understand the needs of her clients. They all take great pride in the quality of the teams they have built, personally interviewing each of the candidates in-depth, following up all references, checking all qualifications and ensuring that they have Enhanced CRB disclosures and First Aid certificates.
When a client calls any of our offices, you can expect to speak to the owner herself. She will spend time discussing the specific situation so that she can place the Night Nanny who is best-suited to the family. The client will be sent references and career history of a Night Nanny. The agency strongly advises parents to make their own enquiries and checks to satisfy themselves as to the suitability and experience of the Nanny. The agency will maintain contact with the family at regular intervals and will ask for a reference on completion of the placement.

Jo Copes has run Night Nannies in Hertfordshire since 2003.

Jo Copes came to Night Nannies with a strong background in childcare. Not only has she been a long-term and much loved day nanny for a succession of families, she has actually worked for two of the Night Nanny regions for a number of years and has been a Maternity Nurse as well.
“I feel that my experience with children of all ages gives me a really valuable insight into the workings of the family unit. A new baby can bring frustration as well as joy and the advice, support and care that a Night Nanny can bring should not be dismissed.”
She sees it from the point of view of the parents as well as the child and appreciates the need for us to create a happy and agreed environment for good childcare.
