All our Night Nannies need to have excellent childcare-related qualifications or extensive newborn experience. These include NNEB, NVQ level 3, BTec, midwifery, paediatric and neonatal qualifications. They will also have undertaken a paediatric first aid course and will possess an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau certificate.
The agency interviews the Nannies personally, they will be tested on their childcare knowledge. The agency will then talk to previous employers and referees – all professional qualifications are checked. However, the Agency strongly advises parents to make their own enquiries and checks to satisfy themselves as to the suitability and experience of the Nanny.
The agency invests significantly in the ongoing professional development of the team. Nannies are offered free workshops in breastfeeding, first aid, post natal depression (in partnership with the Anna Freud centre), reflux and colic and nutrition.
Additionally, Night Nannies are encouraged to attend the Sleep Training course offered by MNT Training, an accredited course held at Reading University and taught by Georgie Bateman of Hampshire Night Nannies, Luci Wiggs from the Department of Sleep Research at Oxford Brookes University and Emily Rittner-McKinlay of MNT Training.
