All our Night Nannies need to have excellent childcare-related qualifications or extensive newborn experience. These include NNEB, NVQ level 3, BTec, midwifery, paediatric and neonatal qualifications. They will also have undertaken a paediatric first aid course and will possess an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau certificate.
The agency interviews the Nannies personally, they will be tested on their childcare knowledge. The agency will then talk to previous employers and referees – all professional qualifications are checked. However, the Agency strongly advises parents to make their own enquiries and checks to satisfy themselves as to the suitability and experience of the Nanny.
The agency invests significantly in the ongoing professional development of the team. Nannies are offered free workshops in breastfeeding, first aid, post natal depression (in partnership with the Anna Freud centre), reflux and colic and nutrition.
Additionally, Night Nannies are encouraged to attend the Sleep Training course offered by MNT Training, an accredited course held at Reading University and taught by Georgie Bateman of Hampshire Night Nannies, Luci Wiggs from the Department of Sleep Research at Oxford Brookes University and Emily Rittner-McKinlay of MNT Training.

Lucy is a qualified paediatric nurse. She has worked on neonatal and paediatric wards. Lucy has been with us since 2003. She has worked as both maternity nurse, night nanny working with twins and triplets.
All the mothers never want her to leave!
One mother said “She is an amazing, most special person. It’s been great to have her with us at such short notice. “With her calm and gentle nature she was brilliant with our newborn twin daughters, as well as being very patient and thoughtful with our two and a half year old son. Lucy is also very punctual, organised, neat and full of extremely useful tips and advice.“
Lucy worked as a Maternity Nurse for this first time mother who said: “Lucy is amazing and got us into a fantastic routine, with sure ease! She was so beautiful at handling our baby. I loved her personality- she blends in and has such a nice presence about her. She was a joy to have around. She is both professional and respectable. I couldn’t recommend her enough!”
Another mum with a newborn said: “Oh, Lucy has been fantastic, she’s amazing and he’s sleeping through because of her. I didn’t want her to go, but sadly I can’t justify it! She is such a lovely, nice person.”

One other parent whose baby had severe reflux and colic said: “Lucy is so diligent and conscientious – I couldn’t praise her highly enough and I felt so safe with her. My baby had colic and reflux and was so difficult and I honestly don’t know how I would have coped without Lucy – she really was amazing.”
